Yoga Wellness
Let’s Breathe, Let’s Move, and Shine Together!
Creating a beacon of wellness for children, teens, and families.
The Lighthouse Yoga & Wellness is passionate about empowering young minds through yoga and mindfulness. These practices not only encourages positive physical fitness, it also nurtures mental and emotional wellness.
Lighthouses are a symbol of strength and resilience as they are constructed to withstand powerful storms and turbulent ocean waters. In life, we will face challenges and uncertainties that can leave us feeling lost. These storms, particularly storms in our thoughts can take the form of not doing well on a test at school or when someone says something unkind to you. Just like a lighthouse shines light to help us find our way, we need to provide children with tools so that they can stand tall, strong, and bright during times of turmoil.
Through the practice of yoga and mindfulness, we bring our attention to the present moment and learn to build connections between our mind, body, and breath. This connection helps deepen the awareness of thoughts, physical sensations, and emotions which can help weather the storms of life with greater resilience.
It has been my mission after retiring as a public school counselor in 2018 for children to discover how yoga and mindfulness can help them learn to shine their light brightly from the inside out. To let their inner light spread in all directions, radiating out into the world and by maintaining their inner light will provide light, hope, and direction to others. Most importantly, letting our own light shine helps others shine too.
“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within”-Maya Angelou
Personal: Isabel Jensen was born and raised in Port Isabel, Texas. She lives part time in San Antonio and Port Isabel with her husband. She discovered the benefits of yoga and mindfulness in 2012 when the stress of daily life (work and being a caretaker for her parents) became more than she could handle. In addition to planning fun and creative yoga lessons, yoga, scrapbooking, traveling, beach time in sunny South Padre Island ,and spending quality time with her family and friends are some of her other favorite activities.
Training: Isabel completed her children’s yoga certification in 2020 with RCYT-Yoginos: Yoga for Youth in Houston, Texas. She has additional trainings with Mindful Schools, Young Yoga Masters, Yoga4Classrooms, and currently working on RYT-200 hour Yoga, Meditation, & Mindfulness Educator Edition with My Vinyasa Practice in Austin, Texas.
Experience: Isabel holds a Master’s degree in Guidance & Counseling from UT-Brownsville. She is a highly qualified educator with 30+ years of experience working with children, teens, and families.. She retired as a school counselor from North East Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas in 2018.
Isabel knows first-hand the many pressures and stressors our youth face on a daily basis and the detrimental effects it can have on their overall health and wellness. She brings her unique ability to make each child feel special and tap into their superpowers. Her yoga classes are school based-social emotional learning with a focus on breathwork for self-regulation and finding a sense of inner peace.
Isabel continues to advocate for children by teaching other educators in local school districts the benefits of yoga and mindfulness in schools.

Yoga with Isabel was so energizing and relaxing. My first class with her revealed how connected the body and mind can be with just breathing. It was a wonderful experience! ❤️
